As we delve into the District's math program, called Bridges, kids continue to work with various materials in the room. Sorting and observing patterns is the primary focus as we slowly begin practicing "Work Places" (the term used by Bridges for "stations" where various options are offered).
Ms. S., Allen Brook's Guidance Counselor, joined us to talk about the school's three PBiS values: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Responsible. She showed a few videos, including this one about being kind:
We also added Partner Reading to the Reading Workshop routine. Kids read independently first, then through the app Team Shake, groups of two are selected at random. One book is read and discussed between them.
Also, the letter "T" from the District's phonics program, called Fundations, was introduced. We used this video to begin the new routine, which pairs a letter with an icon and a corresponding sound. T, top, "t". Check out the YouTube video below or the safeshare link here to avoid ads.
