Day 36
We began the day outside, observing the colder temperatures. A few kids played soccer, which will be a common opportunity for the rest of the year. During snack, a new letter was added to the wall (g) and the group later headed down to Art to work with clay. More practice with building stamina during independent and partner reading, along with re-reading favorite books while practicing "and then... I think _____ will happen" while turning each page was the focus of Reading Workshop. Three Billy Goats Gruff was the mentor text for this.
Later we unveiled the newest leaf pattern in the calendar, practiced hidden partners for 5 using a 5 frame, and took a few more turns programming Blue Bot. During Writing Workshop, kids started writing books about their experiences. The Global Read Aloud book for this week was the mentor text.
Also, the entire group took a vision screening provided by the school. More photos here.
