Items for School

There are a few things your child will need for Kindergarten:
  • A water bottle with your child's name on it. The room can be hot in the early Fall and later Spring months, so we will be taking frequent water breaks. Water breaks will certainly continue into the cooler months as well.
  • A change of clothes (seasonally appropriate shirt, shorts or pants, and socks). Accidents do happen. This is important even for messier work inside or outside as well, sometimes our work can produce more stains than expected😊.
  • A smock of some sort will be needed for Art and it can be used for other classroom work if you would like.
  • Earbuds or headphones (optional)
  • For winter (Please also reference the Forest Thursday page  as well):
    • snow pants
    • snow boots
    • warm coat
    • hat
    • waterproof mittens or gloves
    • anything else that will help your child to stay warm all day.
  • Sneakers are preferred everyday, you are more than welcome to leave an extra pair of sneakers in your child's locker.
  • Sneakers are required for P.E. on Tuesday and Friday.
  • Rain boots and snow boots for inclement or winter weather are ideal.
  • Snacks! We will have snack twice a day and your child will have the choice to purchase lunch or you can send it with them.  Please either mark food items as snacks or lunch, or make sure kids know what is intended for snack. Sometimes kids eat their entire lunch during snack unknowingly.
  • A backpack or some sort of bag to take things home each day.
In addition, it is ok for kids to bring a transitional item with them to school and keep it in their backpack or locker. I ask kids to say goodbye to it during the school day and then they can reunite with it at the end of the day. Items can include a smallish stuffed animal or something small that is comforting to them. Please keep other toys, electronics, and larger items at home (we have plenty at school!).

Birthdays:  Our team will be celebrating birthdays by asking children to bring in their favorite book or to choose a favorite book from the classroom. We will read the book to the group, sing happy birthday, and ask the child to share a few things that they loveA poster will be made by the entire class for the child to keep as a gift. We will not be offering cake or other treats from home at school, but we will celebrate your child!

Thanks!
