Happy First Day of Kindergarten!

It was a busy first day of school today, with lots of new routines and practicing how to be in new places across the building and outside. This includes practicing walking down the hall ("Stay on the right to be polite"), how to join a classroom gathering (example above, "feet flat, scoot back on the cushion, be part of the audience when some else is speaking"), eating lunch, recess, Art, using the bathroom, and so much more in the classroom.

You'll find many photos of our experiences here.

Most, if not all of our work, was aligned with the three values of the school: Be Safe, Be Kind, and Be Responsible. Kindness was the biggest topic, which was conveyed through everyday events between kids (earning a Buzzy, which is the school's PBiS token and an announcement to the entire class in the moment to celebrate). When the "Buzzy Jar" is filled, we will have a class celebration and add the contents to the school's overall collection. When the "Hive" for the entire school is filled, we will have a "Swarm Party" to celebrate the positive work across the building! More on this soon.

Also, today's puppet show and viewing of the Kindness Boomerang added more depth to the kindness conversation. Here is what the kids had to say about the video and ideas they shared for being kind:

Have a lovely evening and see you all tomorrow!

Adam
