New Journals #tolookclosely (inspired by @vermontkkids123 ), Math Talk, and #GRA17 book #3

In response to a question posed by Mrs. Davison's classroom on Twitter and Padlet, kids started more detailed drawings of natural materials found either at home or in the trees here at school in new journals.

In following up after yesterday's informative Math Studio professional development experience, the group began practicing more think, pair, share conversations about math thinking (this layer of the math habits is deeply embedded in the work here at Allen Brook). The first two conversations focused on the pattern evolving in the calendar and another about the difference between two different five frames. The conversations were remarkable to hear and kids were asked to "re-voice" what their partner said to the group. This practice really asks kids to listen deeply so that they can report back to the group.

The Buzzy jar was filled too!  The kids voted to have lunch in the classroom on Monday!  We also read the third book in the Global Read Aloud series, Whoever You Are by Mem Fox.
