After starting the day outside, kids began practicing writing the key words involved in opinion writing. This foreshadowed our work in the afternoon.
Prior to the woods, kids made a list of "snap words" we have practiced, adding "can" to the list as one part of Reading Workshop (Snap Word Power!). In the woods we found one set of dog tracks and so many sticks (so many that we did not finish counting them!). We read Stranger in the Woods and started working on opinion writing in response (and oh yeah, kids had some hot chocolate alongside writing :) Check out our work here!
