April 16-17

Here are some photos and a video of our work so far this week.

In Kindergarten we have continued learning about Life on Land in Spring. In Writing Workshop all children are working in groups researching and writing about a spring animal, including black bears, worms, squirrels, moose, skunks, and sheep. In Reading Workshop we practiced checking our reading as we go, asking, does this make sense?

Then, today we had a special guest, Susanna, with Words Come Alive. Susanna led a classroom performance of “The Tiny Seed” by Eric Carle. Children acted out being a seed, blowing in the wind, and slowly growing. Thank you again to Susanna. In math we are exploring teen numbers as well as 2D and 3D shapes. Additionally, we have done a few whole group activities with twenty frames. With the weather being tricky for going to the woods we worked on building animal habitats inside with our classroom materials.

We have been listening to the song “Bloom” in preparation for the Arbor Day Celebration (which has been pushed back to Friday May 4) where we will sing along to Mrs. Dyer’s class performance of this song. Here is the link!
